History

GP was incorporated in 1977 by Mr. Rashik Shah. It was first located on Wajir Road in the Industrial Area of Nairobi and started with a few plastic moulding machines manufacturing buttons, bangles, buckles and plastic sandals. GP moved into the manufacture of plastic packaging products in 1980. The company started with blow-moulded plastic bottles and at that time was competing directly with glass bottle manufacturers. In 1986 the factory moved to larger premises on Enterprise Road, where it is currently located. Despite the increased area available, further expansion of the business required renting additional space for storage of raw materials and finished goods in other warehouses. GPL presently operates from 5 separate locations – two locations for manufacturing and three locations for storage of raw materials and finished goods.
